Punjab: 1,47,423 cases dispose in National Lok Adalat

Chandigarh: With a motive to settle most of the disputes of the litigants amicably, Hon’ble Mr. Justice MS Ramachandra Rao, Judge, Punjab & Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, under the direction of the State Authority. Organized National Lok Adalat in Punjab State on 13.05.2023.

In this National Lok Adalat, a total of 1,47,423 cases were settled with amicable settlements and awards of Rs. 612 crowns were handed over.
While a total of 1,34,743 cases were settled in the previous Lok Adalat on 11.02.2023. A total of 12,680 more cases were settled in this Lok Adalat as compared to the previous Lok Adalat.

This encouraging data witnessed the growing interest of litigants and the public in the peaceful settlement of disputes.
On this occasion, Ms. Smriti Dhir, Additional District and Sessions Judge and Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority noted that the main advantage of Lok Adalat mechanism is that it helps save time and money for litigants.

The Additional Member Secretary further informed that the Punjab State Legal Service Authority is committed to make all possible efforts for maximum settlement of the disputes of the litigants through Lok Adalats which will be organized in future as per the instructions of the National Legal Service Authority.
