Rajasthan reports 4 new cases of Omicron, state tally rises to 22


Jaipur: Four new cases of Omicron type of COVID-19 were reported in Rajasthan on Wednesday. All the cases of the new strain of coronavirus have been reported from the state capital Jaipur.

With the new infections, Rajasthan’s Omicron case count has risen to 22.

Rajasthan Health Minister Parsadi Lal Meena told that the new cases of Omicron include a couple from Jawahar Nagar, Jaipur; a Kenyan returnee; and 62-year-old resident of Pratap Nagar.

The woman, who returned from Kenya and tested positive for Omicron, is admitted to a hospital in Delhi.

All Omicron patients are undergoing treatment at RUHS and all their primary and secondary contacts are being traced.

Apart from the new Omicron cases, all previous patients have recovered from the infection.

International travelers arriving in Rajasthan are being tested for omicrons and those who test positive are sent to institutional quarantine.

The state has urged people to follow the COVID-19 health protocols: maintain social distancing, wear masks and avoid visiting crowded places. Along with this, all the eligible population of the state have been asked to get the vaccine dose on their turn.
