Rashtriya Ekta Diwas: Preps on for grand ceremony at Statue of Unity

To mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31, various events have been planned at the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue, in Kevadiya, Gujarat, including unity parades, performances by bands and platoons, by the Central Armed Forces. Cycle rallies are included. Motorbike rallies, martial arts performances, school band performances and various cultural programs by police from four states.

New Delhi: To mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31, various events have been planned at the Statue of Unity in Kevadiya, Gujarat, including unity parades, performances by bands and platoons, cycle rallies by the Central Government and others. Motorcycle rallies of armed forces, police of four states, martial arts performances, school band performances and various cultural events.

Six platoons will participate in the celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) at Kevadiya. As representatives of police force from different states, 54 flag bearers BSF, CISF, ITBP, CRPF and Gujarat Police Platoon will participate in the ceremony. In addition, 23 police officers who have received various medals at international sporting events after 2018 will also attend the ceremony and 76 members will join the common band of BSF, CRPF and Gujarat Police, read a statement.

Central Armed Forces personnel have left on cycle rallies from various states to participate in the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. From the west, BSF and Rethanwala BOP will cover a distance of 723 km from Bikaner to Kevadiya. In the north, ITBP and Central Armed Forces personnel in Ladakh have left on bicycles to cover a distance of 2793 kms till Kevadiya. Soldiers from SSB, Bhutan Border, Jaiganav and West Bengal are coming on a cycle rally to cover a distance of 2347 km from the East. From central India, CRPF personnel will cover a distance of 863 kms to reach Kevadiya in Gadchiroli (Maharashtra). All these cycle rallies will reach Kevadiya around October 26 and will participate in the unity parade.

The celebrations at Kevadiya will also include motorcycle rallies from all four parts of the country. Police of Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Tripura and Gujarat have started motorcycle rally till Kevadiya.

After the National Unity Day Parade, there will be a display of Wushu martial arts and a special display on ITBP Combat Vehicle Operations will also be displayed. To participate in these grand celebrations, an inter-school competition was organized among 36 teams of school bands and the winning team would be part of the unity parade. Artists from Ganjam of Orissa will perform on the theme of National Integration and various cultural programs will also add joy and color to the celebrations, the statement said.
