Republic Day 2022: Republic Day celebrations to start on January 23 as tribute to Netaji


New Delhi: Republic Day celebrations to include the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will start from January 23 instead of January 24 this year.

Earlier, the Narendra Modi government had started celebrating Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birthday as ‘Parakram Divas’.

The Center plans to promote sites linked to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose across the country. In October last year, news agency PTI reported that the tourism ministry was planning a curated tour to commemorate the anniversary of the formation of the Azad Hind government announced by Netaji. Parakram Diwas or Deshnayak Diwas?

Earlier, a political controversy erupted over the exact name of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birthday celebrations.

The Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrates Netaji’s birth anniversary as Parakram Divas.

In contrast, the West Bengal government led by Mamata Banerjee celebrated Netaji’s birth anniversary as Deshnayak Divas.
