Russia-Ukraine crisis: Maintain calm & remain safe, India issues advisory to its citizens

new Delhi: India has asked its citizens in conflict-hit Ukraine to stay in their homes, hostels, residences or in transit after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation in Ukraine as tensions escalated in Kiev.

“The current situation in Ukraine is extremely uncertain. Please keep calm and stay safe wherever you are, whether in your homes, hostels, residences or in transit,” the advisory said.

The Indian embassy in Ukraine has also asked people traveling to Kiev to “temporarily” return to their respective cities.

“All people traveling to Kiev, including those traveling from the western parts of Kiev, are temporarily advised to return to their respective cities, especially towards safer places along the western border countries,” the advisory said. ”

The advisory comes within hours of an Air India AI-1947 aircraft en route to Delhi, Ukraine, when Kiev closed its airspace after Russian military operations in two different areas.

Meanwhile, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has said it is closely monitoring the “rapidly changing” situation in Ukraine and is focusing on the safety of Indians, especially students.
