Russia Ukraine War: Russian Defense Minister suffered heart attack after heated argument with Putin, claims Ukrainian minister

Kyiv: For the past month, Russia has been conducting a “military operation” in Ukraine. Both countries have their own claims to make. According to Ukrainian minister Anton Herashchenko, the Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu suffered a heart attack following a violent confrontation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which Putin chastised him for the “failure” of his special military operation in Ukraine.

This, according to Ukraine’s minister, is why the Defence Minister, who is thought to be the war’s second mastermind, has not been seen in public since March 11. On March 24, the Russian Defense Minister was seen on television for the second time. However, whether the footage was new or old is unknown.

Various rumours are gaining strength in the aftermath of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu’s abrupt disappearance. The Defence Minister is believed to have been penalised by the Kremlin (Russia’s President’s office) because important Ukrainian cities such as Kharkiv and Kyiv have yet to be taken. According to the Guardian, the Kremlin brought up the matter during a daily press briefing when journalists asked about the Defence Minister.

According to the report, a Kremlin official stated that the Defence Minister was occupied with a special military operation and that this was not the appropriate time for media activity. Soon later, a footage from a Security Council teleconference with Putin showed the Defence Minister reporting progress on the special military operation on television.
