Cape Town: India’s Test captain Virat Kohli on Wednesday completed 100 catches in the longest format of the game.
Kohli achieved the feat during the second day of the ongoing third and final Test against South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town here. India’s Test captain brought the milestone when he was caught by Temba Bavuma off Mohammed Shami. The Test captain also became the sixth Indian fielder, not a wicket-keeper, to reach the milestone.
Mohammed Shami struck the key as India took the lead against South Africa in the second session on the second day.
At tea break, South Africa were 176/7 – with the hosts still trailing by 47 runs. Keegan Pietersen (70 *) is currently unbeaten at the crease.
Resuming the second session at 100/3 on the second day, Keegan Pietersen and Rassie van der Dussen (21) added a total of 12 runs before Umesh Yadav trailed the Proteas by 111 runs in the 40th over. (ANI)
