Sai Sudharsan’s fifty guides Gujarat Titans to victory


New Delhi: Sai Sudharsan played a key role in Gujarat Titans (GT)’s victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi as the defending champions thrashed the hosts by 6 wickets on Tuesday, April 4.

Miller finishes

David Miller pushed the ball down the leg side for two as GT won the match by 6 wickets. I came home with 11 free balls.

Sudharsan’s half century

Sudharsan scored a brilliant half-century. This was an excellent shot from the left-hander. He anchored submissions when needed and upped the ante when necessary. GT has now won two matches in a row. What will the defending champions do in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Nortje scalps two

Anrich Nortje scored twice for Delhi Capitals after Gujarat got off to a great start through Saha and Shubman Gill. Nortje first sent back Saha before removing the in-form Gill.

Anrich Nortje has just introduced himself in the attack and he immediately stuks! The fiery pace lit up the Delhi Capitals crowd as Saha miscued the ball and his stumps shook.

Anrich Nortje speaks against him, as this time he removed Shubman Gill with a performance of 149 km/h. The South African seamer bowls another Jaffer. The ball was kept low and Nortje’s pace did the rest. Gill’s room was cramped and she didn’t have enough time to adjust. This is a huge goal for the Capitals and they are right back in the game.

Khaleek, Marsh take one

Khaleel Ahmed got the better of Hardik Pandya and Mitchell Marsh removed Vijay Shankar. A breakthrough was much needed for Delhi Capitals. Shankar tried to play the ball in the fine leg region, missed the Marsh cutter and was trapped in front of the stumps. He wasn’t initially announced on the field, but Warner decided to send the decision up, which paid off for the Capitals.

Earlier, Rashid Khan and Mohammed Shami took three wickets each while Alzarri Joseph took one as DC posted 162/8 against GT. David Warner (37 runs) and Axar Patel (36 off 22 balls) made useful contributions for DC.
