New Delhi: Despite being a film for the masses, as stated by lead actor John Abraham, Satyamev Jayate 2 had a slow start at the box office. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh told that the film, directed by Milap Zaveri, has earned Rs 3.60 crore on the first day.

“#SatyamevJayate2 registers low numbers on Day 1…Multiplex weak…Mass Circuit’s single screen is better, but not enough to compensate…Going forward, will need to increase on Day 2, because It is facing another people-centric film [#Antim]… Guru ₹ 3.60 cr. #BharatBiz,” he said in a tweet.

Satyamev Jayate 2 is the second installment of the franchise. The first film which released in 2018 had a good start. It was Independence Day, it collected ₹19.50 crores on the first day.

A Box Office India report said, “There is some pandemic impact especially for regular films as the audience will be very fond of it till the time the market is close to pre-pandemic levels in terms of number of visitors.” But the low numbers here are mainly due to the film not being there, enough to bring in more footfalls.”

The film will now compete with Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma’s Antem. The film, directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, revolves around a police officer (Salman) and a gangster (Ayush). At the same time, Akshay Kumar’s Suryavanshi is still going strong while earning Rs 1.60 crore on Thursday.

Satyamev Jayate 2 also stars Divya Khosla. This is the first time that the two have shared screen space and it marks the return of Khosla Kumar on the big screen after a long gap.
