Former promoters of realty firm Unitech, Sanjay Chandra and Ajay Chandra were shifted from Tihar Jail in Delhi to Arthur Road Jail and Taloja Central Jail in Mumbai respectively.
New Delhi: the already embattled former real estate tsar and Former Unitech promoters Sanjay Chandra and Ajay Chandra are in more trouble as The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered a full probe into his complicity with the Tihar Jail authorities, who had allegedly helped Chandras run a secret office while in jail.
The top court had earlier directed the Chandra brothers to be shifted from Tihar and ordered a probe by the Delhi Police. Former promoters of realty firm Unitech, Sanjay Chandra and Ajay Chandra were shifted from Delhi’s Tihar Jail to Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail and Taloja Central Jail respectively, as per the Supreme Court order.
The Supreme Court order comes in the wake of allegations that they were found carrying out their work and various other transactions from Tihar Jail in the national capital.
On August 26, a two-judge bench of the apex court headed by Justice Dr Dhananjay Yashwant Chandrachud and Justice MR Shah had passed an order to transfer the two accused and the manner in which the accused were allegedly working from Tihar Jail. , expressed displeasure at that. .
The Supreme Court also ordered that the two accused will not be given any additional facilities in Arthur Road Jail and Taloja Jail. The top court had also ordered that the two brothers be kept separately.
