Shreyas Iyer hits half century, plays impressive innings


Lucknow: India’s Shreyas Iyer has hit a half-century in the first ODI against South Africa at a much needed time of the game.

The visitors scored 249 runs in their 40 overs innings. Quinton de Kock scored 48 runs while Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller scored unbeaten 74 and 75 runs respectively.

Team India came to the ground chasing a target of 250 runs and did not have a good start as they lost the early points of the opening match. Shikhar Dhawan (4) and Subhuman Gill (3) departed early within five overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad then followed the openers for 19 runs. Ishan Kishan came into the field but could not score more than 20 runs.

Shreyas Iyer settled the game and got his half-century off 37 deliveries.
