According to PTI news agency, the incident happened around 4am in Masupur village in Nanpara area when villagers were performing a procession and an iron bar kept in a cart came in contact with the wire.
Four people died at the scene, while the one who was referred to Lucknow for treatment succumbed to his injuries en route.
Another boy died in hospital while undergoing treatment, bringing the death toll in the incident to six, officials said.
Superintendent of Police Keshav Kumar Choudhary said the other victims were Sufian (12), Ilyas (16), Tabrez (16), Ashraf Ali (30), all residents of Bhaggadwa in Nanpara, and Shafiq (12). Malhipur has been identified in Shravasti district, the report added.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his sadness at the loss of life during the procession and has directed officials to ensure the injured are treated appropriately.
