Mumbai: Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar heaped praise on Team India for winning the two-match series against Sri Lanka. Jasprit Bumrah-led India beat Sri Lanka by 238 runs in the second Test at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday to win the two-match series 2-0.

Sachin tweeted, “#TeamIndia’s pink, white and red ball form this season has been fantastic. Congratulations on a great win.”

Former India batsman and current National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief VVS Laxman also wrote on his Twitter, “Clinical series win for India. Shreyas Iyer was a treat to watch in both the innings, Rishabh Pant in his Manoranjan was at his best and Bumrah showed his class again. For Sri Lanka, Karunaratne fought bravely but it was always going to be a tough job. Congratulations.”

At the same time, former Indian batsman Irfan Pathan also congratulated Team India and said that Sri Lanka needs to work on their performance.

Irfan tweeted, ‘Feel good feel good series win Bumrah on this dry pitch of Team India was brilliant. Didn’t get a single win for Sri Lanka during this Indian tour, they need to learn very quickly.

Resuming the post-tea session at 151/4, Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne and Niroshan Dickwella put on a 50-run stand for the fifth wicket. The 55-run partnership was broken by left-arm spinner Axar Patel, who dismissed wicketkeeper-batsman Dickwella for 12 after being stumped by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.

Charit Aslanka joined their captain but couldn’t do much as he became Axar Patel’s second victim, Rohit Sharma for 5 to take Lanka to 180/6 and trouble. Karunaratne continued the fight to complete his century and combined with Lasith Embuldeniya to take Sri Lanka’s total past 200.

Jasprit Bumrah was again brought into the attack and the pacer cleaned up Centurion Karunaratne for 107 as the visitors lost their seventh wicket for 204 runs. In the next over, Lasith Embuldeniya was leg out before 2 wickets.

Bumrah hit a boundary for the third time in the innings as he clean bowled tail-ender Suranga Lakmal for 1 to take his eighth wicket of the match. Ashwin delivered the final blow as he bowled out Visva Fernando for 2 for 208. Ashwin took 4 wickets in the second innings.

It was India’s third day-night Test match win in as many matches at home. (ANI)
