Karnataka Assembly Polls: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the Congress called him a “venomous snake” but the snake is Lord Shiva’s garland and my Shiva is the public.
Addressing a public rally in Karnataka’s Kolar district, the Prime Minister said, “Amid development work, the Congress has once again opened the can of abuse. Sometimes these Congress people want to dig my grave, sometimes they call me snake, snake is the garland of Lord Shiva and my Shiva is you i.e. Janata Janardan (public).

The Prime Minister’s comments came in response to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who had earlier said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is like an angry snake… beware, it leads to your death.”
Kharge was also campaigning for the Karnataka assembly polls in Ron in the state’s Gadag district when he made the announcement. The Congress president’s statement followed the arguments of both the major parties, which were fighting to win the state assembly polls scheduled for May 10.
In one such comment, BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal Friday allegedly called former Congress president Sonia Gandhi “Visha kanya” (poisonous woman).
“Is Sonia Gandhi a toxic woman? He was working with China and Pakistan as their agent,” the BJP MLA said at a public rally.
