“Honestly, (when) I got married (2018) we were going to wait two years and then the (Covid-19) pandemic happened. Then I heard many stories from my friends who were going through a very difficult time during the pandemic, going to hospitals and having their parents with them. In India we are used to a support system from our mothers, our in-laws and all that. You want your mother around you. You want your partner to be around and to be in the hospital, all those things. So Anand and I decided… We were planning for 2020. Then we were in Delhi with his parents at the beginning of the pandemic and at that point we just decide to wait because we didn’t know what Covid-19 was at that point. We didn’t get it and thought let’s just wait,” Sonam said.
She spoke about her entire pregnancy journey, from a green signal from doctors to her pregnancy around Christmas last year. Sonam said, “Well, we waited and waited and waited; and this pandemic seemed to be going nowhere. Then I remember June (2021), it was my birthday and I said to my husband ‘I think it’s time, I don’t think we can wait any longer’. I had done all my check ups with a couple of doctors in India and in London and they said you are fine. They have something called AMH that women have, so that’s fine, everything’s fine, so just try it… We moved on, and by December we were pregnant, and then I had to start progesterone shots because of my age gain weight.”
Announcing the baby boy’s arrival, Sonam Kapoor shared a post on her Instagram and wrote, “It was with our heads and hearts bowed that we welcomed our beautiful baby boy on August 20th, 2022. Thank you to everyone who has helped us along the way . including doctors, nurses, friends and family. It’s just the beginning, but we already know that our lives have changed forever. – Anand and Sonam.”
Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja tied the knot in a traditional Anand Karaj ceremony on May 8, 2018 in Delhi. In March 2022, the couple announced that they were expecting their first child together.
