Sudhir wins gold in para powerlifting

Sudhir has brought another gold to the country. This is the country’s first gold in Para Powerlifting. The number of gold medals won by India has reached 6 and the total number of medals has reached 20.

Sudhir won the historic gold medal in the men’s heavyweight category with 134.5 points, setting a Commonwealth Games record. In these games, 87 kg Sudhir lifted 208 kg in his first attempt and secured the top position, scoring over 132 points. However, during this time he faced a challenge from a Nigerian powerlifter, who pushed Sudhir into second place on his second attempt.

In his second attempt, Sudhir lifted a weight of 212 kg to score a record 134.5 points. Nigeria’s Ikechukwu Christian Ubichukwu failed to lift 203kg in his final attempt, which sealed Sudhir’s gold medal.

India has six gold medals so far

India has so far won six gold medals at the Commonwealth Games. Mirabai Chanu, Jeremy Lalnirunga and Achinta Sheuly have won gold in weightlifting.
