Sudhir won the historic gold medal in the men’s heavyweight category with 134.5 points, setting a Commonwealth Games record. In these games, 87 kg Sudhir lifted 208 kg in his first attempt and secured the top position, scoring over 132 points. However, during this time he faced a challenge from a Nigerian powerlifter, who pushed Sudhir into second place on his second attempt.

In his second attempt, Sudhir lifted a weight of 212 kg to score a record 134.5 points. Nigeria’s Ikechukwu Christian Ubichukwu failed to lift 203kg in his final attempt, which sealed Sudhir’s gold medal.
