Dubai: India won the warm-up match against England by six wickets, with Rishabh Pant hitting a six off a free hit, ending it in style.
India chased down a target of 189 runs in the absence of Rohit Sharma with Ishan Kishan opening with KL Rahul. Rahul played freely, did not spare any English bowler and completed his half-century off 24 balls.
Ishan Kishan proved himself to be a great option for the opening as he scored 70 runs for the team in 46 balls. With the form Ishaan has shown, the management can think about how they will include him in the playing XI.
India scored 51 runs in the power play without losing any wicket. By the time Rahul left, India had scored 82 runs. Virat Kohli went back early on 11 when he tried to hit a six, but Adil Rashid stood to catch a ball that was too short to cross the boundary.
Pant came on four and played a blistering innings which included three sixes. Suryakumar Yadav and Pandya looked a bit scratchy but faced only a few deliveries. Ashwin and Bumrah were the bowlers’ choices, and the team management would be happy with the batsmen’s performance. Each of his six batsmen started for England. Their bowlers struggled, the dew played its part and the poor fielding didn’t help them.
India’s second warm-up match will be against Australia on October 20.
