Adelaide: The semi-final hopes in the ongoing T20 World Cup are alive for Australia as they beat Afghanistan by 4 runs in their last Super 12 match. However, Rashid Khad successfully hurt his chances by hitting hard and losing by just 4 runs.
Afghanistan’s tough match against Australia
Australia came out to bat first and put up a 168-run partnership. The Afghanistan bowlers had given a tough fight as they dismissed most of the Australian players cheaply. Mitchell Marsh (45), Glenn Maxwell (54) were the only high scoring batsmen. David Warner and Marcus Stoinis scored 25-25 runs and apart from them none of the players could even go into double digits.
A narrow win for Australia puts their net run rate in the negative!

When Afghanistan came out to bat they fought hard and scored 164 runs but experienced less than 4 runs. Although Rashid Khan worked hard to hit at a strike rate of 208, it just wasn’t enough to win.
Rashid Khan hurts Australia’s chances in semi-finals
Khan has jeopardized Australia’s clear chances of reaching the semi-finals by hitting the ends. He scored 48 runs in 23 balls and his team lost by just 4 runs. This has made Australia’s NRR negative and it is likely that England’s win for the semi-finals will be decided on that basis.
