Tamil Nadu: All school students between 15 & 18 years inoculated with first dose of Covid vaccine

Chennai: State Health Minister Ma Subramaniam informed on Monday that Tamil Nadu has vaccinated all school students in the age group of 15 to 18 years with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Addressing reporters, Subramaniam said, “100 per cent school students between the ages of 15 and 18 in Tamil Nadu have been given the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.”

For the illiterate, the COVID-19 vaccination for children between the ages of 15 and 18 in the country began on January 3 this year.

The Tamil Nadu government on Sunday closed schools due to the spike in COVID-19 cases in the state.

Giving information about the copy of the order, it said, “The examinations which were to be held on January 19 have now been postponed.”

Tamil Nadu recorded 23,989 new COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths on Sunday. This took the total number of cases registered so far to 29,15,948 and the death toll to 36,967.
