Booking and delivery details at Tiago EV
Deliveries of the EV hatchback are scheduled to begin in January 2023, and Tata says the priority has been to produce a larger 24 kWh battery. According to our dealer sources, the most preferred alternative to the XZ + Tech Lux is the higher spec and preferred paint options are Teal Blue and Pristine White. Sources also tell us that there have been more than 500 unofficial bookings for Tiago EV in Mumbai and surrounding areas.
The Tiago EV is currently the most affordable electric vehicle in India. However, prices are only introductory and valid for the first 10,000 customers, of which 2,000 are reserved for existing Tata Nexon EV and Tata Tigor EV customers.
Details about the Tiago EV’s battery, range and powertrain
The Tiago EV has two batteries – 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh – with a range of 250 km and 315 km of MIDC respectively, and is powered by Tata Ziptron’s high-voltage engineering. With the smaller battery, the electric motor in the Tiago EV produces 61 hp and 110 Nm, and with the larger package, 74 hp and 114 Nm.
The Tiago EV is capable of fast charging, and both batteries can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 57 minutes using a 50 kW fast charger.
The higher trim of the Tiago EV gets equipment like rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, TPSM and leather upholstery. For a detailed overview of the variables and functions offered, click here. For now, there is no direct competitor to the Tiago EV, but it will come and take over MG’s compact EV for India next year.
