Telangana reports 3 new Omicron cases, state tally mounts to 41


Hyderabad: Telangana reported three new cases of the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron, on Sunday, the state health department said. With the new cases, the state tally has gone up to 41.

Out of the total cases, 10 patients have fully recovered and have been discharged from Government TIMS Hospital.

According to the COVID-19 bulletin by the state health department on Saturday, 333 passengers arriving from “at risk” countries were screened at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

A total of 8 such passengers were found to be COVID-19 positive. All eight samples have been sent for genome sequencing, of which none of the passengers traveling from “at-risk” countries tested positive.

Three samples from travelers traveling from countries other than “at risk” countries tested positive for the Omicron variant based on random sampling. The results of 5 samples are awaited.
