The earthquake hit Nepal, the death toll reached 9


Kathnamdu: The death toll from a house collapse in Nepal followed by earthquakes rose to nine on Wednesday, according to local police. The Nepalese prime minister has expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of life. He offered his condolences to the nation and assured Nepal of immediate rescue.

Kalpana Shrestha, the chief official of the Doti district, said by phone that five people were injured and were taken to hospital. Five people were injured and are being taken to hospital. She explained that dozens of homes were damaged by landslides in various locations across the region.

Officials said a woman and two children were among the dead. However, the identity of the victims has not yet been established.

The Nepalese army has been deployed to the affected areas to conduct search and rescue operations, according to the officials.

Earlier, local officials reported that at least three people were confirmed dead after a house collapse in Nepal’s Duti district, which experienced two earthquakes and aftershocks within 24 hours.

Ram Prasad Upadhyay, head of the Porpichawke village council, confirmed Wednesday that three people were killed in the accident.

A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal in the early hours of Wednesday, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).

According to the NCS, the earthquake hit Nepal at about 2:12 am (local time) at a depth of 10 km.

The earthquake was also felt in New Delhi, the capital of India, and the surrounding areas.

The National Center of Seismology (NCS) reported that “the earthquake of magnitude 6.3, occurred on 09-11-2022, 01:57:24 IST, Latitude: 29.24, Length: 81.06, Depth: 10 km, Location: Nepal”.

This is the second earthquake for Nepal in less than 24 hours.

Nepal was also hit by a 4.5-magnitude earthquake early Tuesday morning, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).

The earthquake struck 155 km northeast of Kathmandu, Nepal, at a depth of 100 km, according to the NCS.

The NCS tweeted, “A magnitude 4.5 earthquake, occurred 11-08-2022, 04:37:27 IST, Latitude: 28.57 Length: 86.58, Depth: 100 km, Location: 155 km northeast of Kathmandu, Nepal.”

On October 19, a magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck Kathmandu. According to the NCS, the earthquake struck 53 kilometers east of Kathmandu at around 2:52 pm. The earthquake was at a depth of 10 km.
