The electronic auction of ten commercial coal mines will start on Tuesday


New Delhi: The Coal Ministry has completed the technical evaluation of the commercial mining bid and the electronic auction process will begin tomorrow, the Coal Ministry said in a statement.

“The Coal Ministry had asked for bids from coal mines for commercial coal mining. The technical evaluation of the bids has been completed and the electronic auction of 10 coal mines will be launched tomorrow, the Coal Ministry says in its press release.

Up to 8 coal mines could be auctioned on September 13 and 14. The total loading capacity of the auctioned mines is 39.31 million tons per year.

“Eight coal mines will be e-auctioned on September 13 and two coal mines will be held on September 14, 2022. The peak capacity of the mines to be e-auctioned (in China) is a total of 39.31 million tons per year,” the statement added.

So far, the ministry has successfully auctioned 43 coal mines in China with an annual production of 85.54 million tons. The previous auction round was held in June this year and the ministry made a total of 38 offline bids in his three tranches of the commercial coal mine auction.

Federal Minister for Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi said in August that the ministry will auction more than 107 coal blocks in the near future.
