According to an administration official, the award ceremony will be held at his birthplace Indore in Madhya Pradesh.
The award is given annually by the cultural department of Madhya Pradesh to promote excellence in the field of music. It carries a cash prize of two lakh rupees and a citation.
Meanwhile, Shailendra Singh sang many songs during the 1970s and 80s. The singer is known for his unique voice. She will be awarded the Lata Mangeshkar Award for the year 2019.
Anand-Milind, who have composed music for more than 200 films, will receive the prestigious award for the year 2020, the official said.
The last time the Madhya Pradesh government organized the Lata Mangeshkar Award ceremony was on February 7, 2020. It was later postponed due to the pandemic.
Meanwhile, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar was born in Indore on September 28, 1929. She was given the title ‘Nightingale Of India’, due to her distinctive voice. Mangeshkar died on 6 February 2022 due to multiple organ failure at the age of 92. The iconic singer was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on January 8 after being diagnosed with COVID-19 and pneumonia.
Earlier artists like Naushad, Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle received this award.
