The pilot collided head-on with another plane, says Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata (West Bengal): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday claimed that a plane came in front of her plane, but the pilot survived a head-on collision.

The TMC chief said the plane did not fall into any air pocket, news agency PTI reported.

Earlier on Saturday, the state government had sought a report from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) after his aircraft suffered turbulence, causing injuries to his back and chest, reports said.

This happened when she was returning to the state from Uttar Pradesh after ending her campaign for the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party.

Mamata Banerjee said, “Another plane, suddenly, came in front of my plane. Had the situation continued for another 10 seconds, there would have been a head-on collision.”

“The plane went down 6,000 feet. I had injuries to my back and chest. I’m still in pain,” he said.

Last week, a chartered flight carrying Banerjee from Varanasi to the city faced turbulence. The report said that the pilot managed to land it safely at Netaji Subhash Chandra International Airport.
