Srinagar. Jammu and Kashmir Police officials on Wednesday claimed to have killed three terrorists, including a wanted TRF commander Mehran, in an encounter in Rambagh area of ​​Srinagar.

The security forces have recovered arms and ammunition from the encounter site.

Officials said a joint team of police and security forces cordoned off the area and based on specific information about the presence of militants, an ambush broke out between the militants and the security forces.

As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where the terrorists were present, they came under fire and retaliated, triggering an encounter in which three terrorists, including Resistance Front Commander Mehran, Down Town, Srinagar, were killed.

Police officials said the other TRF terrorist killed in the encounter has been identified as Basit and the third is being identified.

An official associated with the operation said that the security forces have recovered arms and ammunition from the encounter site in Rambagh area.

IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar confirmed to News 24 about the killing of TRF commander Mehran, the IGP said that Mehran was involved in the killing of two teachers and other civilians in the city. He said the identity of the other two terrorists was being ascertained.

Meanwhile, clashes and stone pelting were also reported from some areas of Rambagh and down town of Srinagar, force has been deployed to maintain law and order.
