IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that one of the three terrorists killed, identified as Mukhtar Shah of Ganderbal in central Kashmir, was shifted to Shopian, according to the IGP, after the killing of Virendra Paswan, a non-local street vendor from Bihar last week. had gone.
Last week, on October 5, Virendra Paswan, a street cart vendor, was killed in Srinagar’s Lal Bazar area, with the TRF terrorist organization claiming responsibility for Paswan’s killing.
IGP Vijay Kumar said the encounter lasted for nearly nine hours after a group of terrorists was intercepted at Tulran in Imamsaheb area of Shopen in south Kashmir.
The trapped terrorists were asked to lay down their arms and surrender to the army, which they refused and opened fire on the joint operations team.
According to officials, no collateral damage was reported during this operation, after the three terrorists were killed, incriminating material including arms and ammunition have been recovered from the encounter site.
Police said the identity of the two other terrorists killed was being ascertained while the search operation was still on.
