Los Angeles: Timothée Chalamet has shared the first look of his character in the upcoming film ‘Wonka’, a prequel to Roald Dahl’s 1964 book ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.
On her Instagram handle, Chalamet posted a picture in which she can be seen in Willy Wonka’s classic outfit, a brown top hat and purple velvet coat, as snowflakes fall all around her. “The suspense is awesome, I hope it lasts… Wonka,” he captioned the post.
Fans got super excited after seeing the post and the post was flooded with likes and comments. One fan wrote, “I’ve never been so excited for anything.” “Willy Wonka so cute,” added another.
Chalamet will replace Gene Wilder (1971) and Johnny Depp (2005) as the third actor to portray Willy Wonka on the big screen. Paddington alum Paul King is directing the upcoming film, written by Simon Rich and produced by David Heyman.
In July, the original cast members of 1971’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory told People magazine that they looked forward to seeing Chalamet in the iconic role while discussing the 50th anniversary of their film.
Peter Ostrom, who originally played Charlie Buckett, said, “You can’t kill Willy Wonka’s story.
‘Wonka’ is to premiere on March 17, 2023.
