Twitter update: New feature for cricket fans

New Delhi: Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 has started in India. Yes, during this time cricketers from many countries along with India take part in it. India and cricket have a very old relationship. In such a situation, the social media platform Twitter now wants to provide a unified experience to its fans. Through a new feature, Twitter has created a new Cricket Tab feature which will essentially be a one-stop-shop for all cricket related news and updates.

This feature should come in handy as IPL 2022 is underway. Fans can get access to all updates related to matches and players.

In a media note, Twitter said it is “experimenting with a dedicated Cricket tab on its Explore page that will be available to some of you who use Twitter on the Android platform in India.” It is worth noting that the Cricket tab will be available only on the Explore tab on Android devices and iPhone users may have to wait longer. This is an experimental feature and Twitter may remove it if any issues arise.

Twitter offers help for cricket fans

Twitter says the tab will “bring together the best of cricket and fans will receive real-time match updates via exclusive video content, scorecards and other interactive widgets.” It says that ‘people will also be able to activate the custom cricket team emoji in 7 Indian languages including English, Hindi and Tamil’.

The Events page inside the Cricket tab will allow fans to follow the latest tweets and updates from the field on a dedicated page at the top of the Cricket tab. It is now easier to follow match scores on Twitter with the Live Scorecard which will be visible on the Cricket tab as well as the Events page. The tab will give fans access to content widgets like Topper Players and Team Rankings. As things progress on-field, these widgets will serve fans with the latest scoop about their favorites in real time.
