Ukraine crisis: we have no one to talk to Putin: Trump

Washington: Former US President Donald Trump says the Ukraine conflict is continuing and could escalate because, under US President Joe Biden’s administration, the US has “no one to talk to” with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Despite all Biden’s weakness, cowardice and incompetence, he still has a way to end this tragedy in Ukraine, without implicating the Americans in a gruesome and very bloody war. By the way, this could lead to World War Three.” Trump told his supporters at a rally Saturday in Florence, South Carolina. Trump suggested Washington should threaten Moscow with “blurred consequences”, such as permanently ending Western reliance on Russian energy.

“We have no one to talk to him [Putin], You had someone to talk to me,” Trump insisted, adding that “my personality is what keeps us out of the war.”

In the early hours of 24 February, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine after the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republic (DPR and LPR) reportedly appealed for help defending itself against Kyiv forces. Russia said its special operation aimed to “demilitarize” and “demilitarize” Ukraine and that only military infrastructure was being targeted. Moscow has repeatedly insisted that it has no plans to annex Ukraine. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the goal is to protect the people of Donbass, “who have been subjected to abuse, genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.”

In response to Russia’s operation, Western countries have launched an extensive sanctions campaign against Moscow, including airspace closures and restrictive measures targeting several Russian officials and entities, the media and financial institutions. (ANI/Sputnik)
