Five people, including a suspected gunman, were killed and several others were injured in a shooting in the US state of Colorado on Monday.

Police believe the suspect fired a firearm at at least seven different locations in Denver and Lakewood, Colorado. The chase was launched after Denver police spotted the suspicious vehicle. After a shootout with police, the suspect fled to Lakewood, a suburb west of Denver.

“The suspect opened fire on the agents, then fled on foot,” Romero said.

The suspect then fled to a hotel and shot a clerk, and was later killed in an encounter with the police.
