Uttarakhand police files muder case against Moradabad cops in UP


New Delhi: The Uttarakhand Police on Thursday registered a case against a team of policemen from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh who conducted a botched encounter claiming the life of an innocent woman.

On Wednesday evening, at least 10-12 police officers reached the Udham Singh Nagar area in pursuit of the Zafar mining mafia and entered a house and opened fire. The aforementioned operation was carried out without informing the local police.

In a clip while talking to the media, DIG Nilesh Bharne mentioned that the number of police personnel coming from Moradabad is uncertain as they were in plainclothes. He said several teams have been constituted to meet the police personnel involved.

He further said that a case has been registered against 10-12 constables of Moradabad police of UP for the alleged murder. The following sections have been imposed: articles 147 (riots), 148 (riots, armed with a deadly weapon), 149 (all members of an unlawful assembly guilty of an offense committed in the prosecution of common objects ), 302 (murder), 452 (house-entry after preparation for wounding, assault or unlawful restraint), 504 (intentional insult with intent to cause breach of the peace) and 120-b (criminal conspiracy) ) of the Indian Penal Code.
