Uttarakhand rains: Death toll rises to 76

The Uttarakhand government said that the death toll in rain-related incidents in Uttarakhand has risen to 76, while five people are still missing.

Dehradun (Uttarakhand): The death toll in rain-related incidents in Uttarakhand has risen to 76, while five people are still missing.

In addition, 24 people were injured. The rains caused landslides, collapsed houses and floods causing widespread destruction and loss of life and property in the state.

Also, 224 houses were damaged in these incidents, the state government had earlier informed.

Amid torrential rains, roads in the hill state have been flooded, landslides have occurred and rivers have been flooded, leaving people stranded at various places.

Earlier, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that he will donate his salary for the month of October 2021 to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) of Uttarakhand. His contribution to the CMRF was announced recently in the wake of the natural calamity in the state. (ANI)
