Now a clip of an elephant trapped in the raging Gaula river between Haldchaur and Lalkuan went viral earlier today. However, now the news has come that the elephant has been saved.

New Delhi: Many people have lost their lives due to incessant rains, cloudbursts and floods in many parts of Uttarakhand. Videos have emerged from Nainital and other areas showing water flowing from roads and bridges, railway tracks being washed away. Now a clip of an elephant trapped in the raging Gaula river between Haldchaur and Lalkuan went viral earlier today. However, now the news has come that the elephant has been saved.

The scenes depict the elephant moving in circles on a small stretch of land as the river flows unimpeded around it. The video has been authenticated by wildlife team officials.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Sandeep Kumar said, “We had received information about an elephant trapped on an island in a river. A forest team was sent to the spot and it was rescued. It has been sent to the forest and we will keep it. There are a track of his movements.”

Flood scenes were seen from different parts of the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday to take stock of the situation arising due to heavy rains in the state. Dhami took a detailed review of the situation on Monday.
