Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], October 15 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Secretary SS Sandhu on Thursday held a review meeting of the tourism department and directed the officials to make arrangements for GPS based wristbands for mountaineers and trekkers.
Sandhu said that other necessary arrangements should also be made to ensure the safety of the climbers and trekkers.
The Chief Secretary said that the Chardham Yatra is seasonal in the state, but there is a huge potential for off-season tourism as well.
He said, ‘To promote tourism, work should be done on connectivity first and helipad and heliport should be constructed at the earliest.
He said that facilities of water and toilets etc. should be made available at a distance of every 20-30 km on the travel routes so that the passengers and the general public do not face any problem.
The Chief Secretary said that a citizen friendly and easy to use app and website should be developed so that people can get every information on the phone.
The Chief Secretary directed the officers to pay attention to marketing and publicity as well. (ANI)]]>
