Vande Bharat Express hits buffaloes


New Delhi: The Vande Bharat Express train met with an accident on Thursday after a herd of buffaloes came into the middle of the tracks between Vatva station and Maninagar in Gujarat.

The incident came days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi signed off on the Gandhinagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express.

According to the information of the Western Railways, the accident happened between Vatva station and Maninagar at around 11:15 am. As a result of the accident, the front part of the engine was damaged. All passengers are safe.

“The Vande Bharat Express running between Mumbai Central and Gurajat’s Gandhinagar met with an accident after a herd of buffaloes entered the track around 11:15 am between Vatva station and Maninagar,” Western Railway Senior PRO JK Jayant said.

Prime Minister Modi stopped the Gandhinagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express semi-fast train last month. This indigenously developed train runs between Gandhinagar and Mumbai and is the first Vande Bharat train to be equipped with ‘Kavach’ technology. It is an automatic safety system that prevents two trains from colliding.
