After displaying some fine batting skills in the Asia Cup, Kohli is now all set to play in the T20 World Cup to be played in Australia from 16 October.
Virat Kohli returns to form
The 33-year-old started his Asia Cup campaign on a promising note after scoring 35 runs in the opening match against Pakistan. Kohli had scored 276 runs in the tournament at an average of 92 with two half-centuries and a century.
The former India captain also managed to end his long century drought in international cricket with a century against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup. He played a brilliant innings of 122 (not out) against the Afghan cricket team to score his maiden T20I century.
Kohli is currently all set for the T20 World Cup. India head coach Rahul Dravid recently brought a throwdown specialist for Kohli in the practice session.
Kohli did not take part in the first warm-up match against Western Australia but is expected to return to action in the next warm-up match on Thursday.
However, Kohli’s absence didn’t have much impact on Team India as they clinched a comfortable 13-run win against Western Australia on Monday.
The team led by Rohit Sharma, batting first, scored a total of 158/6. Suryakumar Yadav scored a half-century to help India reach a scintillating score. Western Australia, during the run chase, could only reach 145/8 in 20 overs. Bowler Arshdeep Singh took three wickets to give victory to his team.
