VVS Laxman makes a big statement before the World Cup

New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman is currently acting as reserve manager for Team India, sharing Rahul Dravid’s duties. As India started their ODI series against South Africa on Thursday, Laxman said in a press conference that India have a lot of talent.

While discussing the ODI roster for the 2023 World Cup, Laxman made a big statement.

β€œHe has worked well as a reserve manager so far, starting in the Ireland series, England T20I (1st game) and Zimbabwe series. Obviously you have to cover up Raul Dravid given his work commitments and the upcoming T20 World Cup,” Laxman told Star Sports.

There is so much talent – VVS Laxman

β€œWe have a good group of cricketers, they are all looking forward to the series, the competition between them is good, we are spoiled for choice considering how much talent we have. It will be difficult for the national team to attract the right team for the 2023 50-over World Cup,” he added.

Speaking further about the competition within the India squad, Laxman said: “All the young players are doing well, they know they won’t get too many chances when the main players return but this is a chance to perform well and develop to maintain the hunt when the strongest side is chosen.”
