WATCH: Delhi Police ‘force’ dogfight during raid on robbery suspect’s house; domestic dog dies

New Delhi: The family of a robbery suspect released a video on Wednesday in which Delhi Police personnel in search of the suspect engaged in a dog fight at their home in Rohini area, in which their pet dog was killed.

The family of the suspect has also alleged that the police personnel misbehaved with the female members as well.

“Seeing the late visitors, our pet dog started barking at the police, to which they responded by bringing their own dog, and staged a dog fight at our residence,” read the complaint filed by the family.

According to the family, the incident took place on December 8 when around 10-12 people, some in police uniform, barged into his residence in the night.

However, Delhi Police sources told IANS that on the night of December 8, the police had gone to nab a robbery suspect, identified as Prince Gill, who had recently committed dacoity in the same area.

“He had robbed a man at gunpoint a few days back,” said a source.

When they reached the house of the suspect, the family members were not even opening the door to let them in, the source said.

“The robbery suspect was present inside the house but the family was repeatedly denying it,” the source said.

Later, after much effort, they entered the house and caught the accused of robbery.

To the police suspect’s family’s claims of staging a dog fight, the source replied that the robbery suspect’s pet dog was cruel and the family was leaving it up to police personnel.

The sources also claimed that the suspect was a double criminal and this was not the first time he had robbed someone.

When the matter reached the higher level, an inquiry was ordered. Later, the Metropolitan Magistrate of Rohini Court also ordered a probe by the Joint CP of Northern Range of Delhi Police.
