BJP MP Rebati Tripura said the party still has a majority in Tripura and there is no threat to the Biplab Deb-led government.
New Delhi: After Tripura BJP MLA Ashish Das quit the party to join TMC, BJP MP Rebati Tripura said that the party still has majority in the state and there is no threat to the Biplab Deb-led government.
“There are a total of 44 MLAs including 36 BJP MLAs supporting the Tripura government. One BJP MLA Ashish Das has left the party and joined TMC. However, we have majority and public support. So no threat to the government. No,” Rebati Tripura told ANI.
According to reports, Das, who represents the Soorma constituency, shaved his head on Tuesday and took a dip in the Ganges. He said that he was doing penance before joining TMC.
“I am leaving the BJP today. I have held talks with TMC. More BJP MLAs may leave the party in the coming days,” Das said after performing a ‘havan’ at the Kalighat Kali temple in Kolkata.
Addressing the media, Das even said that he will shave his head till the BJP government is voted out of power in 2023.
