“We will not fight World War III in Ukraine,” Biden said after reiterating America’s full support to his NATO allies and promising that the US would defend “every inch” of NATO territory, CNN reports.
“I want to be clear, however, that we are going to make sure that Ukraine has the weapons to defend an invading Russian army. And we will send money and food aid to save the lives of Ukrainians. We Ukrainians We are going to welcome refugees with open arms if indeed they come here,” Biden said.
He also thanked members of the House of Representatives for their support to Ukraine, noting that he spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday for nearly an hour. Biden further shared that he talks to Zelensky “almost daily.”
The Russian military began military operations in Ukraine on 24 February, three days after Moscow recognized the separate regions of Ukraine, Donetsk and Luhansk, as independent republics, after “demilitarizing” and “rejecting” Ukraine. Announced for a “special military operation”.
