‘Well done’: Sachin lauds Pant for his unbeaten ton against SA in 3rd Test


New Delhi: Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar heaped praise on Rishabh Pant for his unbeaten 100 in the second innings on the third day of the ongoing third Test against South Africa at Newlands, Cape Town, here on Thursday.

With India being bowled out for 198, South Africa have been set a target of 212 runs and will win the series 2-1. Pant remained unbeaten on 100 to retain the Men in Blue in the game. Sachin tweeted, “Brilliant innings in the deciding innings of Rishabh Pant17. Very good. #SAvIND.”

Former India batsman VVS Laxman also took to his Twitter to congratulate Pant for ‘keeping India in the game’.
“He has scored Test tons in Australia and England before and this in Cape Town is one of the best counter attack innings one will ever see. Put India in the game. Take Dhanush, #RishabhPant,” tweeted Laxman.
Resuming after lunch at 130/4, India suffered a major setback as Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant’s long partnership came to an end, after the Indian captain was dismissed by Ngidi, the team’s total being 152/5 .

Pant was then joined by Ravichandran Ashwin, who was also sent off by Ngidi after he was dismissed for just 7 by Marco Jensen. After Ashwin’s dismissal, Shardul Thakur’s wicket was made for 5 runs, with India’s total being 170/7.
Later, Kagiso Rabada hit back and sent Umesh Yadav back to the pavilion without opening an account. Marco Jensen also took two wickets in the second session and dismissed Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah to restrict India to 198. (ANI)
