West Bengal: Bombs, firearms recovered near Murshidabad school


Farakka (West Bengal): Bombs and bomb-making items were recovered on Friday near a school in Hazarpur village near the town of Farakka in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal.

On Friday morning, bombs and explosives were recovered from a mango and litchi orchard behind the children’s education center in Hazarpur village.

The police recovered three bags from the orchard. Two of the three bags contained bomb-making equipment. One bag was full of bombs. 

Police informed the CID bomb squad. The bombs were later defused. The incident has created a sensation in the area.

“We are living on a pile of gunpowder. Bombs have been found near a children’s school. There are questions regarding the safety of the children,” a local resident said.

Police have recovered a firearm, one round of ammunition and 23 bombs from two different places in Murshidabad. A team from the Samsherganj police station recovered 16 bombs including a firearm and 1 piece of ammunition. 

The police have arrested three people in relation to this incident.
