Living a healthy lifestyle isn’t just about avoiding fatty foods, cutting back on caffeine, and joining an expensive gym membership. Health isn’t just about your body size; it’s about being happy within yourself, avoiding harmful situations and substances, and taking care of yourself as a whole. Ideally it would be a lifelong commitment, but everyone knows that temptation is inevitable and if being healthy means getting bored and deprived then it will all go pear-shaped.
So what to avoid and what to embrace are key questions. Basically, it should be obvious. Everything in moderation is the best way to look at it. Yes, you can enjoy pork chops, but not three times a week! You can party into the wee hours of Friday night and aim for more restorative activities on Saturday night. Living a healthy life is all about balance. You know what’s good for you, but you want what’s good for you.
Exercise, healthy eating, and stress prevention are the three most important ways to ensure you have a healthy lifestyle. Prevention is also a good thing to consider. Get regular checkups with your doctor and dentist. Go for Pap smears/prostate tests, breast exams and any other examinations that will help you quickly detect any potential health hazards.
Be aware of how much you value your life, or not. If every day seems like another reason to drag your feet, then do something about it. We are long dead, live your life while you are here. Do you hate your job? Find another job. Marriage problems? Ask for advice. Of course, it’s not as simple as a two- or three-word answer, but identifying what’s bothering you and fixing it is the answer. Living a healthy lifestyle is up to you and you alone.
