New Delhi: Team India fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the T20 series against Australia after testing positive for Covid. After Shami’s exit, fast bowler Umesh Yadav got a spot on Team India.

The Indian team captain responded openly to the whole affair after the development.

Many players are injured and some are sick – Rohit

Captain Rohit Sharma said in a news conference on Sunday: “We had some options but many of them are injured like Prasidh Krishna. Mohammad Siraj plays county and we don’t want him coming here after such a long journey to maybe play a game or two. That would not be appropriate.

“Too bad to have Shami from the series”
