Melbourne: Pakistan face England in the T20 World Cup final, but they haven’t had one of their best days. England opted to bowl first and their bowlers have wreaked havoc against Pakistan at the MCG.
Pakistan, who easily chased down the target of 153 against New Zealand in the semis, have struggled to get close to it. The team led by Babar Azam scored 137 runs against England.
Many of their batsmen are back with one digital score as the English bowlers display a brilliant attack.
Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam opened for Pakistan and collected 29 runs for the first wicket. However, Rizwan made a few errors at the start but overcame them to score 15 runs. England’s 21-year-old Sam Curran ended his run with a brilliant ball that hit his stumps in the 2nd ball of the 5th over.
Pakistan lost half the team for less than 100
Mohammad Haris couldn’t do much as he was dismissed for 8 runs after the 8th over and then Babar Azam’s time ended when Adil Rashid struck in the 12th over.
Iftikhar Ahmed had the worst day as he returned to score after taking a six in 13 balls off Ben Stokes. Pakistan had lost half their team in less than a hundred runs.
England’s bowlers tightened their stranglehold even further when the lower-middle order came into the field. Only Shadad Khan managed to face the English bowlers for almost 2 overs and scored 20 runs in the latter part of the game. The tailbacks scored less than 10 runs.
All the efforts of the Pakistan batsmen could dampen just 137 runs for the England side in the top match of the T20 World Cup.
ENG vs PAK Innings Break: Will Pakistan win by THIS low score
Compared to England’s performance in the semi-final against India, they had quickly chased down the target of 168 runs. And that too without losing a single business card.
If England play so intelligently and skilfully, this result would be a mere overkill.
