With COVID protocols in place, no chief guest for RSS' Vijayadashmi event this year too

New Delhi [India], 12 October (ANI): With protocol due to the situation created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has decided not to invite any guests for the annual Vijayadashami address by its Sarsanghchalak for the second consecutive year.

Like last year, only RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat will address the occasion.

According to a senior RSS functionary, there will be no more than 500 people in a field filled with volunteers, usually dressed in white shirts and brown trousers.

Last year the number was limited to 50 RSS workers.

“This time with slightly better conditions, we will have 500 people in the field. The RSS chief’s speech will be telecast live on social media,” the functionary said.

Another senior RSS functionary said that discussions are on to allow small groups to see the address on LED screens at 40 different places in Nagpur.

Over the years, the Vijayadashami event has seen the presence of several prominent personalities including former President Pranab Mukherjee, HCL chief Shiv Nadar and child rights activist and Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi. (ANI)
