Women own 80 pc houses given under PM Awas Yojana, says PM Modi

The Prime Minister also said that since 2014, the Center has approved the construction of more than 1.13 crore houses in urban areas under the PMAY scheme of the Centre.

Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that 80 per cent of the houses provided under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), 80 per cent of them are owned by women.

Addressing the urban conference in Lucknow on Tuesday, where he digitally handed over the keys of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) houses to 75,000 beneficiaries across the state, the Prime Minister said: “80 per cent of the households owned by the PM Under the housing scheme, women are being given, or they are being made joint owners. In Uttar Pradesh, women are also being given 2 percent exemption in stamp duty on the registration of houses worth Rs 10 lakh.

The Prime Minister also said that since 2014, the Center has approved the construction of more than 1.13 crore houses in urban areas under the PMAY scheme of the Centre.

“Since 2014, our government has approved the construction of more than 1 crore 13 lakh houses in cities under PM Awas Yojana. Out of this, more than 50 lakh houses have been constructed and handed over to the poor. Only 13 lakh crore urban houses were approved. Out of this, only 8 lakh were built,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi digitally handed over the keys of PMAY-U houses to 75,000 beneficiaries in 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh and interacted virtually with the beneficiaries of the scheme.

He inaugurated/laid foundation stone for 75 urban development projects of Uttar Pradesh under Smart City Mission and AMRUT by flagging off 75 buses under FAME-II for seven cities including Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Jhansi and Ghaziabad Released and released a Coffee Table Book covering 75 projects implemented under various major missions of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present on the occasion. (ANI)
