Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pralhad Joshi has been given the additional charge of the Ministry of Education, shortly after Dharmendra Pradhan resigned from the Union Council of Ministers.
The announcement was made on Saturday through an official communication from the Rashtrapati Bhavan, confirming that the President accepted Pradhan’s resignation with immediate effect. The notification also stated that, on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Joshi would oversee the Education Ministry while continuing to handle his existing portfolios.

Who is Pralhad Joshi?
Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi was born in November 1962 in Karnataka. He completed his schooling in Hubballi before earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from KS Arts College, Hubballi, affiliated with Karnataka University, Dharwad.
Joshi was associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) from a young age and later joined the BJP. He initially became known during the Idgah Maidan movement in Hubballi and also participated in the Save Kashmir Movement, which helped establish his political profile in Karnataka.
He entered electoral politics in 1996 after being elected to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. In 2004, he moved to national politics by winning the Dharwad Lok Sabha seat, which he has retained in every general election since, including 2009, 2014, 2019 and 2024.
According to his 2024 election affidavit, Joshi declared combined family assets worth ₹21.09 crore and liabilities of ₹8.01 crore.
