Italy PM Giorgia Meloni’s ‘Parishram’ Remark Steals Spotlight During PM Modi Meeting in Rome

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni grabbed attention during a joint press interaction with Narendra Modi in Rome after using the Hindi word “parishram” while speaking about success and cooperation.

During the interaction, Meloni said, “Parishram hi safalta ki kunji hai,” a phrase that translates to “Hard work is the key to success.” The remark quickly became one of the most talked-about moments from the India-Italy meeting and gained traction across social media platforms.

The meeting between Modi and Meloni focused on strengthening ties between India and Italy across multiple sectors, including trade, defence, technology, clean energy and infrastructure cooperation.

Both leaders also discussed expanding collaboration under the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), a major connectivity initiative aimed at improving trade routes and strategic partnerships between Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

According to reports, the two countries agreed to deepen cooperation through an upgraded strategic framework, reflecting growing diplomatic and economic engagement between New Delhi and Rome.

The meeting also revived online discussion around the viral “Melodi” nickname, popularly used by social media users for Modi and Meloni after their previous interactions at international summits.
